As I look back on all of the things that I’ve accomplished in my master’s program at Michigan State University, I realize how much I have changed, learned, and grown. Just a little over a year ago, I was sitting in Erickson Hall, ready to begin this adventure yet nervous as all get-out. The instructor had us keep a daily reflection during that time. As I reread the daily logs now, I see words like “overwhelmed”, “due dates”, “daunting”, “intimidating” and my personal favorite was a phrase I used to describe how I was feeling toward the end of the program: “Put a fork in me, I’m done”. On the other hand, there are many more instances where I see exclamations of excitement, moments of triumph, and feelings of pride.

One year and five months ago, I wrote out my intentions upon entering this program. My personal goal was to learn about the most current and up-to-date technology based tools. This goal has not changed because it will always be a work in progress. Technology is constantly evolving in an ever-changing world. The courses in my master’s program have highlighted this fact and as long as I am working, I plan to be a life-long learner when it comes to new technologies. I have learned that there are many ways for me to stay up-to-date and personally connected. I’ve expanded my personal and professional learning networks through social media. I’ve discovered new professional development networks such as ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) and MACUL (Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning). Lastly, I’ve gained what I hope turns out to be lifelong relationships with many others throughout the program.
